Cut Pile vs. Cut Loop
All of this flooring has noise absorption properties, but some more than others, and cut pile is the king of noise elimination.
Cut piles are plush, thick and many of them have that little “fuzzy top.” They come in many types, including frieze and shag, among others. Like anything, this flooring has one drawback; that fuzzy top and plushness can make it difficult to wheel around on office chairs, so if easy motility is a priority, you might go with another type.
Probably the most popular, cut piles are ultra-durable (just look at the twist--the tighter and heavier, the stronger) and they come in a lot of different colors, patterns, textures and styles. The fibers are either nylon, polyester or wool. Nylon seems to be the most popular.
